What Is Emotional Fitness?

Most of us struggle with difficult emotions and moods because we were never taught much about our emotions, either how they work or how to work with them.⁣

As a result, most of us feel bad for having emotions and try to get make them go away as fast as possible. But, when we try to eliminate or escape from difficult emotions, we only train our minds to be more reactive to them. ⁣

Instead of constantly trying to fix or eliminate difficult emotions, what if we learned how to work with them? What if we could learn how to stop fighting our emotions and live alongside them? In short, what if we could build a better relationship with our emotions?⁣

I believe the key to building a better relationship with our emotions and creating a healthier, more balanced emotional life is the regular practice of Emotional Fitness.⁣

We shape our lives by what we think, our beliefs give to our actions whether we are consciously aware of this or not. The more aware you become, the easier life becomes as you ALIGN with who you really are, as you let go of some beliefs that you realise don’t serve you and adopt better ones that do. ⁣

There are four key areas to Emotional Fitness:

PURPOSE

Why are people suffering so much emotional discomfort (anxiety and depression) in our materialistic comfortable world?

It is because our purpose is not found in the ambitions world in what we achieve in our awards, accolades and trophies. Purpose is found in our everyday actions and our random acts of kindness.

Having a clear purpose, knowing your why, knowing what you want to create will help you to achieve your life goals and objectives.

The key to success is knowing what you care about, so that no matter what the obstacles, you'll be able to handle them because you are driven by a purpose bigger than any challenge.

MEANING

Meaning is our perspective or philosophy on how we view life, it's where our values are, are priorities are, our deepest desires are.

We all are meaning making machines in, what some may describe, avast meaningless world. Nothing in life has meaning except for the meaning we give it.

Our perspective directly impacts our experiences in life. The quality of our perspective or awareness impacts the quality of our life as our perspective then infiltrates our emotions.

Meaning comes through our connection with others.

Gaining awareness of the meaning you give your experiences in life is key is creating the life you want.

EMOTIONAL INTIMACY

Emotional intimacy teaches us how to create a deep relationship with ourselves. To know ourselves and our emotions and create a great relationship with them.

there are no good or bad emotions. all emotions are valid and necessary.

Emotional intimacy Brings us out of our head, stop being analytical and reconnect with ourselves, it allows emotional healing.

teaches us how to not get stuck or loop in our emotions.

3 steps:

1. Awareness

2. Acceptance

3. Feel our emotions to completion

EMOTIONAL FLEXIBILITY

Life will constantly throw change at us whether we like it or not, whether we are adaptable, resilient and compassionate is what's going to matter.

3 Steps:

1. Adaptability is key. When change arrives our flexibility needs to be at the same level or more as the change that is occurring.

2. Resilience is non negotiable. Whether we want to or not, we have to handle this change, it's not an option to opt out of dealing.

3. Compassion, more than ever, must come to the fore in how we treat ourselves and those around us.
